  1. Key Stage 1 Leader (1.0 FTE or 0.8FTE)

Twerton Infant School and Nursery is a 2-form entry infant school with an onsite Nursery. We are an LA Maintained school and we now work closely with 3 other primary schools in BANES within the South Gloucester Learning Alliance, which provides wide-ranging support and CPD. The school has a long-established reputation for being both inclusive and responsive to children’s individual needs.

We have an excellent on-site Forest School, providing fantastic outdoor learning for all children, including those with additional needs. We also follow the Thrive approach, which supports children’s wellbeing and mental health. Our motto is ‘Twerton Infant School – the School that Cares’ and this is embedded in everything we do.

We are one of seven schools in BANES who are part of the St John’s Primary Empowerment Programme which is enabling us to work closely over a sustained period of time with key delivery partners:

  • Ruth Miskin Education
  • Bristol Reading Recovery Centre
  • Brighter Futures
  • White Rose Maths
  • HCRG Care Group (Speech and Language)
  • Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team

We also enjoy close community links and receive support from:

  • Bath Recreation – additional PE provision;
  • Bath Rugby Club – learning support from senior squad players
  • Bath City Football Club – Play Support and afterschool club

We are currently refining of our Curriculum and we are continuing to develop Talk for Writing throughout the school. Consequently, we are very keen to recruit a leading teacher with both passion and excellent leadership skills to join our dedicated team in Twerton.

We understand that the pandemic has changed many things. More than ever, we all need to balance the demands of professional life with time for family, friendships and other pursuits.

Therefore, we are offering this post as either full-time (1.0 FTE) or part-time (0.8 FTE):

  • 1.0 FTE would involve teaching 4 days with 1 day release time for KS1 Leadership and PPA;
  • 0.8 FTE would involve teaching 3 days a week with 1 day release time for KS1 Leadership, PPA time and liaising with a job-share teacher. This option would enable a 3-day weekend.

This is a permanent position.
