All children and schools have had a challenging year with COVID, however, at Twerton, we are a small and supportive team working in a diverse community and have been at the heart of ensuring children are provided with the best support both in their education and in their emotional wellbeing. We now have the opportunity to expand our team.
The school has an established reputation for being both inclusive and responsive to individual needs. We have an excellent on-site Forest School area which enables us to offer fantastic provision for children with additional needs. We also follow the Thrive approach which supports children’s wellbeing and mental health. Our motto is ‘Twerton Infant School – The school that cares’ and this is embedded in everything we do.
The school is committed to offering training and support through the Inclusion Leader in this challenging but rewarding job. We believe that Inclusion starts with warm and trusting relationships between adults and children.
The school seeks to appoint enthusiastic, patient and caring Teaching Assistants for Part Time positions to support children with Educational Health Care Plans or with Transition Support funding. We welcome applications from recent Graduates as well as people with experience of supporting children with additional needs.
The posts will be temporary contracts, term-time only plus two INSET days, to start in Term 1 – 2nd September 2021 and until the child/ren no longer need support or leave the school. Salary shown is for full time, actual salary will be pro-rata.
The successful applicants will:
- Have an understanding of pupils with SEN and a holistic understanding of child development
- Be reliable and flexible
- Be calm and patient
- Be able to act on their own initiative
- Be able to carry out a speech and language programme under the guidance of the school’s Speech and Language Therapist
- Be able to work as part of a team with excellent communication skills
- Be confident to liaise with staff, parents and other professionals
- Have a professional attitude and understand the need for confidentiality
- Have high expectations for children’s learning and behaviour
